In hindsight, my colleagues and I created a huge controversy about evaluating community-based parenting programs, where there had been none previously. I learned much about the role of journal editors in promoting and protecting bad science. I learned that the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) is no friend of authors who have been abused by editors who seek justice. Ultimately, ~60 articles were corrected for undeclared conflicts of interest and the Belgian government would announce the defunding of Triple P programs.
